Black and purple 5-point star crop top with a central 4-point star in the center of the larger star (CMYK)
This piece started as a sketch—a quick experiment with tribal and celestial shapes. The elongated star stuck with me, but once I brought the design into a digital space, I struggled. The more I tried to fill the space around it, the less it worked. Eventually, I stripped it back and leaned into texture instead of complexity.
The final result is simple but striking. Inspired by '90s and early 2000s fashion, this piece explores how far a minimal design with halftone textures can go when backed by intention and style. It’s made to be a versatile staple—clean, bold, and made to turn heads.
Original digitized star design filled in (RGB)
Second iteration with halftone effect (RGB)
Digitized versions of the design. I really loved the filled in star, as it felt ominous and mysterious with the outer edge covered in halftone dots and a glowing hue. It was also fun to experiment with different color variations, glow effects and textures to get the desired look I wanted for the shirt.
